2017 was a whirlwind of a year – mainly on the personal side. From attending a good friends wedding to traveling to new countries to joining a Tennis league to relationship goals to starting a blog, the year was full of accomplishments. If everything that I did last year was listed on my resume, people would definitely be intrigued. But if you’ve read my blog entries, you will know that anxiety and stress negate many of the positive feelings and actions. They are the driving factors behind many of the struggles I faced last year, but with a new year in tow I have 12 months to continue working through these struggles to become a stronger and healthier (mentally) person.
I am calling 2018 as The Year to Hustle because its the year I will hustle in many aspects of my life from personal to career to my side projects.
Without further ado my 2018 goals are…
- Design my professional blog. I bought my own domain name in December 2017 and my goals for 2018 is to re-design the blog. Make it cool looking as I like to call it and continue developing new content. I absolutely love having a creative outlet and I’m learning all kinds of new things about website design and WordPress that I otherwise would not have learned. I also really enjoy being the final decision maker. I don’t have to get someone else to like my website designs – I can make all the decisions. Being your own boss is definitely cool. I hope to also monetize my blog and make money with my side hustle. But that is a distant 2018 goal. Finally, I hope that I can create a steady list of readers for whom my content is relevant and resonates with their lives.
- Finish my second Paint by Numbers painting. As I’ve written about this before, painting (or guided painting! love the new term I created) has proven to be a great stress reliever and I look forward to using this tool to reduce stress in my life.
- Have a positive attitude about new adventures. I have a lot of personal changes happening in my life right now. While I’m not ready to reveal those changes yet (need to maintain some level of privacy online), I will embrace these new adventures with an open mind and work on worrying less about the uncertainty of life.
- As I continue to work on managing my anxiety and stress, my goal is to continue meditating, being grateful for people and experiences in my life, and working on my passion projects to keep me motivated and excited for 2018!
The last few years I realized that making resolutions for the new year is not very practical. Many resolutions are broken in the first week so instead of setting up myself for failure, I’m going to create goals that are achievable and will keep me motivated to have a successful year.
